This MG YB has been with its current owner for 50 years and I have now been asked to offer it for sale. It has been under my care for around 10 years and I know the car, and the owner, very well.
It was completely rebuilt approximately 15-20 years ago with a view to using it on classic rallies. To that end the body and chassis have been strengthened and the car has a solid feel. Skid plates have been fitted under the engine, exhaust and fuel tank. Additional driving and safety lights were added and can easily be removed for originality's sake. The differential was replaced with a stronger unit from a Hindustan Ambassador and the front suspension is all MG B.
The interior has new door cards and carpets, the headlining and the seats appear to be in original condition and the leather, whilst worn, has no tears. There are mountings for 2-point harness type belts.
There is absolutely zero rust anywhere on the body, frame, anywhere in fact. There are some stone chips and small scratches commensurate with proper use but otherwise the paint is really very good with a deep shine in the burgundy.
I pulled the engine out 3 years ago as the core plugs and thermostat neck had corroded - all plugs were replaced, a new neck was fitted and the cooling system filled with Evans waterless coolant to prevent this happening again.
The car has been used sparingly during the last few years and for that reason it is now available to buy. It is on the button, always fires up readily and is a blast to drive.
